TMR PLUS PROTECTS NUTRITION If heating is occurring in the TMR, it is a sure indication that mold growth is taking place. Secondary fermentation is caused by the reactivation of the fermentation bacteria in the silage when they are again exposed to oxygen. In high moisture TMR’s, feed can begin to loose its freshness and start to become stale within 30 minutes after mixing. The secondary fermentation needs to be prevented in order for dairy cows to maintain desired ration consumption.
